Notice of the 2025 Exchange Conference on New Pollutant Control and Environmental Health Risk Prevention

Recently, I visited the Hydrogeology and Environmental Geology Survey Center of the China Geological Survey. Academician Zhang Fawang, the director of the center, warmly received me. I communicated the requirements regarding energy storage, CCUS, groundwater, and soil surveys to the center, looking forward to new contributions from a national-level center for national projects.

Recently, the Shanghai Municipal Engineering Institute visited our association. As an important supporting unit of our association, the Sanya Tianya District Zero-Carbon Zero-Waste Eco-Agriculture Demonstration Project supported by us is a heartfelt contribution from the Shanghai Municipal Engineering Institute. The soil and groundwater pollution investigation of a plot in Taizhou, Zhejiang, compiled by the Shanghai Municipal Engineering Institute and supported by our association, has been recognized by national and provincial/city levels. At the beginning of the New Spring, both parties have reached a new consensus on the next step of cooperation.

I also had an in-depth exchange with the leaders of the Environment College and the Science Park. On behalf of our association, I express my gratitude to Supervisor Yalei for his strong support. Recently, the head of our association visited Fujian Longjing Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. This is the third time for the head of our association to conduct a field research on this company, and had communication regarding the work on air pollution prevention and control, new energy, and soil remediation.

On February 27, 2025, I will conduct a field research at Longyan Fukang Floriculture Co., Ltd. to learn about the cultivation and promotion of Cattleya orchids and carry out preliminary discussions on potential cooperation for the demonstration of zero-carbon and zero-waste ecological agriculture in Baoqian Village.

From February 23 to 25, 2025, our association will organize a team of experts to visit Linxia and Lanzhou, Baiyin in Gansu Province for comprehensive exchanges on soil and groundwater pollution, beautiful rivers and lakes, environmental risk prevention and restoration of chemical parks. During the visit, we will be received by provincial and municipal leaders, marking a solid step forward for our association in the ecological environment protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin.

Recently, a responsible person from our association visited the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, and was warmly received by Xi Beidou, the president and deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences. Both sides had an in-depth exchange on the technological support and collaborative development of social organizations in the construction of ecological civilization.

I will be responsible for the visit of the person in charge to the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences.

Recently, a person in charge of our association visited China Inspection and Certification Group Corporation. There was an in-depth discussion with Chairman Xu Zengde on certification, green low-carbon development, and international/domestic economic situations. Chairman Xu fully praised and affirmed the development of the association.

On the afternoon of February 21, 2025, Li Chen, Director of the Green and Low Carbon Product Line of Fangyuan Logo Certification Group's public institutions, led a team to visit our association. The person in charge of our association received and exchanged ideas together. Both sides had in-depth exchanges on green and low-carbon accounting and certification. We plan to further cooperate in agriculture, energy, international expansion, and other areas in the next step. CQM Certification Group (CQM) is a member unit of the Beijing International Ecological Economy Association. It started in 1991 and has grown together with China's certification and accreditation industry. It is a group oriented and professional technical service organization that integrates certification, training, scientific research, policy research, standard setting, and international cooperation, and is oriented towards the world. CQM has a nationwide market service network, with over 40 subsidiary companies and more than 6500 professional technical teams covering various industries. It has served more than 200000 customers and issued over 300000 certificates.

Recently, our association announced that a technical exchange conference on the management of emerging pollutants and environmental health risk prevention is planned to be held in Changzhou in April 2025. The purpose of this conference is to gather experts, scholars, and industry representatives from around the world to promote cooperation and exchange in the field of emerging pollutant management, and jointly explore and address the impact of emerging pollutants on the environment and public health.

It is reported that all preparatory work for the conference is currently proceeding in an orderly manner. Detailed plans have been made regarding hotel accommodations, catering arrangements, transportation coordination, and venue setup. In terms of academics, the conference will feature multiple sub-forums. Each sub-forum will focus on specific themes for in-depth discussions, facilitating the exchange and application of scientific research findings.

Additionally, the conference will invite renowned domestic and international experts to deliver keynote speeches, sharing the latest advancements and achievements in the research and management of emerging pollutants. This not only enhances the academic level and international influence of the conference but also provides attendees with a platform for learning and exchange.

Currently, more than 60 sub-forum organization applications have been received, reflecting the high level of attention and active participation from both the academic community and industries. To improve the efficiency and quality of the meeting, our association, together with experts, is considering merging sub-forums with similar themes to enable participants to more effectively exchange information and experiences.

In response to the global challenge of managing emerging pollutants, our association has stated its commitment to continue playing a bridging role, strengthening international cooperation, and jointly advancing the development and application of emerging pollutant management technologies to achieve the dual goals of environmental protection and health improvement.

Recently, the International Environmental Protection Association (IEEPA) announced plans to host the Technical Exchange Conference on New Pollutants Governance and Environmental Health Risk Prevention and Control in Changzhou in April 2025. The conference aims to facilitate collaboration among global experts, industry representatives, and scholars in addressing emerging pollutants, fostering discussions on mitigating their environmental and public health impacts.

Current preparations for the event are progressing systematically. Detailed plans have been finalized for hotel accommodations, catering services, transportation coordination, and venue setup. Academically, the conference will feature multiple parallel sessions focusing on specialized themes to promote knowledge sharing and practical applications of research findings.

The event will include keynote speeches by internationally renowned experts who will present cutting-edge advancements and achievements in emerging pollutant research and governance. This approach not only elevates the conference’s academic rigor and global influence but also creates a dynamic platform for professional learning and interdisciplinary exchange.

With over 60 proposed parallel session applications already submitted, the strong participation reflects heightened attention from both academic and industrial sectors. To optimize efficiency and quality, IEEPA and its advisory experts are considering merging sessions with overlapping themes, enabling more concentrated knowledge exchange among participants.

Addressing the global challenge of emerging pollutant management, IEEPA reaffirmed its commitment to serving as a collaborative bridge, strengthening international partnerships to advance governance technologies. This initiative aligns with the dual objectives of environmental sustainability and public health protection.

At the beginning of the new year, at the invitation of Gansu Province, I organized a team of several renowned experts to conduct research, discussions, and field investigations in Gansu regarding the development of a Beautiful China. The experts were warmly welcomed by relevant leaders and specialists from Gansu Province. Relevant departments hoped that the experts would deepen their understanding of environmental and developmental issues in Gansu through this inspection and propose practical and feasible solutions.

2025新污染物治理与环境健康风险防控技术交流大会

On January 22, 2025, Amina bint Abdullah Al Dhaheri, the Minister of Climate Change and Environment of the UAE, sent a personal letter to Mr. Xie Zhenhua, expressing her gratitude for the robust cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the People's Republic of China over the years under Mr. Xie’s guidance. She also extended her warmest congratulations to Mr. Xie Zhenhua on receiving the "First-Class Medal of Zayed II." She stated that Mr. Xie Zhenhua's remarkable achievements in the field of sustainable development, as well as his significant contributions to the core environmental discussions during COP28, were pivotal to their major advancements in addressing climate change challenges. This recognition appropriately honors Mr. Xie Zhenhua's transformative efforts and profound influence in advancing global sustainable development. She further noted that Mr. Xie Zhenhua’s contributions would inspire future generations to follow in his footsteps, striving for excellence and fulfilling their duties.

The Minister of Climate Change and Environment of the UAE wrote to Xie Zhenhua, highly praising his outstanding contributions in the field of sustainable development.

On January 23, 2025, I will visit the Wuxi Taihu Culture and Art Exchange Center to have a cordial exchange with Mr. Dai Jiaping, a former senior leader of Wuxi, focusing on in-depth discussions regarding Wuxi's integrated work on pollution reduction and carbon emission control. Accompanying me will be Mr. Xia Weiping, Chairman of Wuxi Harbor Network Technology Co., Ltd., a member unit of our association.
