On April 17th, Xiao Lianbing, Secretary General of the International Exchange, Cooperation and Communication Center of Guangming Daily, Deputy Secretary General of the China European Union Association, and Senior Journalist, visited our association，received a warm reception from Vice President Li Sheping of our association.
Both parties have had detailed communication on their current business and development status, as well as future goals and development directions, available service support, and current project status. This meeting further deepened mutual understanding and actively explored various possibilities and directions for future cooperation, as well as how to further develop cooperative relationships and measures.
Guangming Daily, founded on June 16, 1949, is a major ideological and cultural newspaper organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, with intellectuals as the main target audience.
As a bridge and link connecting the Party and the state with the vast number of intellectuals, Guangming Daily has always received the warm care of the central leadership collective. Comrade Mao Zedong wrote an inscription for the founding of Guangming Daily: "Unite for Guangming and Celebrate the Publication of Guangming Daily.” Comrade Deng Xiaoping wrote the inscription for the 40th anniversary of the founding of Guangming Daily and the publication of the Collection of Discussions on Truth Standards: "Guangming Daily has been in existence for forty years" and "Practice is the only criterion for testing truth". Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Party Central Committee with Comrade Deng Xiaopin at its core has issued a series of important instructions for further running the Guangming Daily.
On May 11, 1978, Guangming Daily published a special commentator article titled "Practice is the Only Standard for Testing Truth", which had a profound impact on the development of Chinese society. On June 21, 2005, the then Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, Comrade Xi Jinping published an article in the Guangming Daily, Promoting the" Red Boat Spirit "and Going Ahead of the Times, which first proposed and explained the "Red Boat Spirit", the source spirit of the CPC. Entering the new era, Guangming Daily, guided by Xi Jinping’s socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era, continuously strengthens politicians' awareness of running newspapers, and further highlights the positioning and characteristics of ideological and cultural newspapers.
Guangming Daily has now developed into a modern newspaper group with the full media of Guangming Daily, Digest, China Reading Daily, Book Extracts, Broad Reading, Frontier, Studying Abroad, Educators, and Guangming Daily Press, Guangming Net, Guangming Daily "Two Micro One End".
Guangming Daily has 37 journalist stations nationwide and has resident journalists in 23 countries and regions around the world, with a circulation of over 1 million copies. On June 16, 2022, Guangming Daily celebrated its 73rd anniversary.
The China EU Association, abbreviated as the China Europe Association, was announced on November 11, 2001. He Luli, former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, was appointed as Honorary President, while Chen Haosu, former President of the National Friendship Association, was appointed as President.
The purpose of the China Europe Association is to promote the development of relations between China and the European Union and its member states, expand international exchanges and cooperation, and maintain world peace. As an independent legal entity, the China Europe Association, under the guidance of the National Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, carries out civil diplomacy towards EU countries, including making friends with other civil friendly groups, local friendly organizations, and friendly individuals from all walks of life, promoting civil economic and trade cooperation, conducting civil cultural exchanges, and helping to establish friendly city relationships and connections between local governments. At present, the China Europe Association has over 110 group and individual members from 23 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government.
Since its establishment, the China Europe Association has held a series of meaningful activities to introduce the development of the European Union to the Chinese public and promote cooperation between China and Europe in economic, social, and cultural fields, such as the Euro Roadshow, the EU Expansion Impact Debate on China, the China Europe Art Summer Camp, the EU 50 Year Exhibition and the EU Climate Change Exhibition, as well as the China Europe Folk Friendly Cooperation Dialogue,etc.
