Under the guidance of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Civil Affairs, and with the strong support of experts from various professional industries, the First Congress of Member Representative of the Second Session and First Council of the Beijing International Ecological Economy Association were successfully held at the National People's Congress Center on February 15, 2023. The transition work of the Beijing International Ecological Economy Association was successfully completed.
The meeting was attended by Hao Jiming, academician of the School of Environment of Tsinghua University, president of the first council of Beijing International Association for Ecological Economics, Peng Suping, academician of the State Key Laboratory of Coal Resources and Safe Mining of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), Ni Jinren, academician of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of Peking University, and Wu Fengchang, academician of the National Key Laboratory of Environmental Benchmarking and Risk Assessment of Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences. And more than 100 outstanding experts and scholars from the field of ecological economy jointly attended this conference.
Academician Hao Jiming, President of the First Council of the Beijing International Ecological Economy Association, reported to the conference on the overall work of the first council. He stated that in the past seven years, the association has adhered to the overall deployment of the party and government on the reform of associations, adhered to the principle of focusing on the center and serving the overall situation, continuously improved its ability to handle meetings in accordance with laws and regulations, and successfully completed various key tasks established by the first council. Significant achievements have been made in member services, advisory services, public welfare support, and the fight against the epidemic, and the association has made significant progress in its own construction. However, there are also certain shortcomings, such as the association's significant room for improvement in making the world hear the voice of China. He believes that the new council of the Beijing International Ecological Economy Association, under the leadership of the Party and government, will be able to deliver a more exciting answer sheet based on the capital and facing the international community.
This general meeting elected 50 members of the new council and board of supervisors of the Beijing International Association for Ecological Economics, including academician Wu Fengchang, academician Peng Suping, academician Ni Jinren, professor Zhou Ke of the School of Law of Renmin University of China, professor Zhang Shiqiu of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of Peking University, researcher Cao Hongbin of the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and professor Zhang Yalei of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of Tongji University, elected unanimously as a member of the new council and supervisory board of IEEPA. The conference also reviewed and passed the newly revised Articles of Association and Management Measures for Collection of Membership Fees of the Beijing International Ecological Economy Association.
Academician Hao Jiming and Academician Peng Suping were unanimously elected as the Chairman of the Academic and Expert Committee of the Beijing International Ecological Economy Association and the Chairman of the Green Mining Professional Committee of the Beijing International Ecological Economy Association respectively.
Academician Wu Fengchang, President of the Second Council of the Beijing International Ecological Economy Association, delivered a concluding speech on behalf of the new council and made comprehensive arrangements for the work of the new council. This session of the council aims to establish a first-class association in the capital and even the whole country, deeply implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress and Xi Jinping’s concept of ecological civilization, and closely focus on the work of the ecological economy center. Firstly, leverage the characteristics of the Association, focus on promoting the construction of Beijing's "green industry" system, prosper the ecological economy, promote technological innovation, and serve the construction of ecological civilization in Beijing and the whole country; Second, give full play to the advantages of the Association, deeply promote the construction of the "zero waste and zero carbon rural carbon neutrality" demonstration project in Beijing, spread the concept of zero waste and zero carbon, and promote the formation of carbon neutrality design centers in Beijing and the country. The new council will continue to adhere to the purpose of promoting public welfare in Beijing's social organizations, strengthen standardized management, innovate development methods, and continuously improve the level and capacity of various consulting services provided by the association.
